Molded Foam / Custom Foam Packaging
| Molded foam is produced using a steam fusion process facilitated by a custom designed aluminum mold/tool. This aluminum tooling does come at a cost. However, this cost can be justified through low part prices attained from molding. Significant customer savings and paybacks are part of our motivation at Armstrong Brands. We know that every customer needs to save his/her company money and our challenge has been to prove that it can be done with molded foam solutions.
The General Rule: Molded foam is ideal for customers with high volume (+100,000 piece per year) demand as well as standard size & shape products. Often times if one product does not constitute large enough volumes, a combination of products will. Within certain designs, the aluminum tooling can be made with interchangeable parts, thus creating a series of Molded foam solutions from a single tool.
Exception to the rule: Molded foam is a cost effective solution for customers with mid to low volume demand. Advances in mold building technology and Armstrong's investments in equipment and the training of personnel have made it possible for us to accommodate virtually any size or quantity (1,000 pieces per year) application. In fact, this year Armstrong Brands built seven new mold tools. Four of those tools were built for low volume customers at less than $3,000.00 each. |
